Just to update all of you, I finally got an email today (12/11/13) that card production has been ordered. This is exactly 15 days after the interview in Newark. Finally!

An update: A few days I got a letter saying that the case had been transferred to Lee's Summit, MO to speed up processing and today (12/11) I got an email saying that card production had been ordered!

The latest update is that the application has been transferred to the local USCIS office for further processing, which is strange since the application never left the local USCIS office (Newark, NJ) in the first place. I have no idea what USCIS is up to! :-/

Hi, I got a notification after the I-485 interview saying that the application has gone to a USCIS office and it is in "initial review". The IO didn't mention anything during the interview. The website says this: "During this step, USCIS initiates the background checks of the applicant/petitioner and identifies issues that may need to be addressed either during an interview or by asking the applicant/petitioner to submit additional information or documentation. USCIS reviews the applicant's/petitioner's criminal history, determines if there are national security concerns that need to be addressed, and reviews the application/petition for fraud indicators." Could this mean that there's an RFE possible, or is it normal?

Everest, thanks for the information. We had an interview at Newark yesterday, Nov 26 2013. The interview went fine but the officer mysteriously said that she wasn't sure if there was a visa available. Our PD is from May 2012. Also, unlike other people, we weren't given any paper indicating the decision or that the case was held for further review. In your case, you got a decision in almost exactly 3 weeks. I'm hoping it is the same for me. We had filed the 485 at the beginning of August 2013 as well.
@ Amazon: I am still waiting to be approved and I have not received RFE, but I found this online, and I read stories where sometimes they did not accept a regular photocopy. http://www.immihelp.com/immigration/certified-copy.html We only sent a photocopy of our marriage certificate, do you think this could be a problem? On the USCIS website it says: To complete the process, the petitioner must submit: Form I-130 (signed with proper fee), with all required documentation, including: Two completed and signed G-325A forms (one for you and one for your spouse) A copy of your civil marriage certificate A copy of all divorce decrees, death certificates, or annulment decrees that demonstrate that all previous marriages entered into by you and/or your spouse were terminated Passport style photos of you and your spouse (see Form I-130 instructions for photo requirements) Evidence of all legal name changes for you and/or your spouse (may include marriage certificates, divorce decrees, court judgment of name change, adoption decrees, etc.) So a little confused, but I hope it is not going to be a problem and we're going to be approved soon. Thanks. FK
I submitted just a copy of the marriage certification, not a certified copy. We got an approval without any RFE.

Just an update: the I130 approval indicated that USCIS will hold on to the approval because the application had said that we wanted to do AOS. If needed, we could change to consular processing. We also got an appointment for biometrics. To the question that someone asked: our application was sent to Texas Service Center even though VSC is the closest to us. Also, I'm an LPR.

I filed I130 for my wife last year (5/26/2012) and I received a notification about its approval today (8/12/2013). I already sent the I485 application last week because the PD for F2A category is current for this month. In the application, we had sent a copy of NOA1 saying that the I130 application was pending. Now that I130 is approved, do we need to do something more? Do we need to send an amendment to the I485 application or will they be smart enough to realize that the I130 is now approved?

Hi, The F2A category priority dates just became current. My wife's I-130 application is still pending. I'd like to know if the I-485 can be filed without waiting for I-130 approval. I'm getting conflicting information from different sources. The 485 form instructions say that you must attach a copy of the approval notice for an immigration petition. However, some sources claim that it is sufficient to just include a copy of the acceptance of the I-130 petition. Thanks!
