I am also interested in this, tabula_rasa, let me know what happens. My friend is in Cherkassy and her case has been transsfered to Kiev embassy (waiting for PD to become current and receive interview letter). I wonder if your case is also at NVC or USCIS? Thank you.

My case is at the NVC, case number has been assigned, the PD is current. We sent a request, waiting for response, I'll let you know how it goes

Unbelievable, I cant think of any more applicable situation than what is going on there in Ukraine. My thoughts are with you and hoping the situation there begins to stabilize. (hopefully Yanokovych will step down, or at least hold early elections and reform constitution to 2004) In any case, good luck.
