hello everyone! i am very new to this forum. i am currently residing in my home country and never have been to us. my wife is gc holder and currently residing in us. she is going to file i 130 for me within few days. i have noticed that all priority date under F2A category is current/ will be current in august and will remain current for next few months. so my question is if my wife file my i130 now, will i get any benefit of this present current status? or what i need to do to get this benefit? or am i not eligible for this benefit at all? it will be greatly appreciated if anyone help me in this regard. thanks in advance.

thanks a lot. so what i understand is i have to wait at least around 5-6 months to have my i-130 approved and sent to nvc and by then present current status will be retrogressed. isn't it (if i am not the dumbest person ever)? well, the question looks silly though, will there be any accelaration of the present processing time in the categories where PD is current?

The current time to process I-130 is around 15-18 months (processing time can be updated monthly by USCIS). You will have to wait for I-130 to be approved and then NVC will set up an interview (if PD is still current). If it is not current, then you will have to wait for PD to be current and then they will set up an interview. USCIS has hired around 200 extra staff in VSC center to help process case faster. But due to large volume of expected applications from Aug 1, USCIS may need to hire more people (else processing time could increase).

It takes about 7-10 days for USCIS to send I-130 receipt notification. You can also check you case status online. The link is in blog. It is located (I think) under Blog > USCIS Links > Check case status

As you may have seen on this forum, USCIS is approving cases randomly. They have already approved cases in March 2013 PD. It would be helpful if you could add your case to the tracker: http://www.mygcvisa.com/tracker/ You will be able to check your case status and any updates once you add your case to tracker.
