Hi Amazon! I would like to give thanks to you in advance! thank you for being so informative and helpful all the way along :) We finally come to the interview step and it is scheduled on 01/03/2014!!! My i-130 is still pending and this interview is for AOS purpose.. I wonder if my mom needs to show up in the interview or not since she is the primary petitioner for my i-130? I am already 21 and am qualified for CSPA. Thank you so much! I will share my interview experience later ")

Hi Jane, congrats on reaching the interview stage. The interview letter would give you complete information on who should be present, what the location is, what documents is needed, etc. Also since you have filed as child of LPR, they would ask much less number of questions (as compared to spouse of LPR). This means that your interview could be over in less than 10 minutes. If you received any RFE earlier, they may ask few questions about it.

I got the interview letter! and it is scheduled on 01/03/2014. It says: if your eligibility is based on a parent/child relationship and the child is a minor, the petitioning parent and the child must appear at the interview. since I am already 21 (CSPA qualified), I don't think I am considered a minor. Therefore, my mom the petitioner does not need to appear at the interview, am I right?

It is best to bring your mother for interview with you. They may also want to check if the parent child relationship is genuine.

interview experience: my i-485 is still pending but the IO said as long as she got the physical i-130 in hand she will approve my case and it takes about two weeks. my appointment was at 10:15 in the morning , me and my mom got there at 9:00 am sharp, went through the security check point like a breeze (no one was in line), dropped our interview letter in the box labeled "other interview", went into the waiting room at 9:05 (it was a large waiting room with ample seats, most of the people are here for info pass i guess. ) 20 minutes later my name got called by the lady IO and she greeted me and my mom in a very friendly manner. We followed her to the office (it was quite a walk took us about 1 minute to get to her office) and she swore us in. She started asking for my driver’s license, my passport, my EAD card and my I-20s. When she looked at my passport ,she took away my i-94 and stapled it with the huge pile of file in her hand (my i-485 application I guess.) Then she asked why I don’t have a stamp in my I-20s, I said I lost it once and my school gave me a new one, since then I never left the US. She asked me what do I study. I said my major is pharmacology, she said wow that’s great. asked when my mom got married .I showed her the marriage certificate and she said wow time went by so fast it ‘s almost two years. I said yea they just passed their two year’s anniversary. then she took some notes and said: now let’s go through your application together. She asked me every single question on the i-485 and check questions using her red pen. after all the NO questions, she said she would like to approve my case but the approval of I-130 is required before she can do that. I then told her that the I-130 and I-485 is incorporated and should be approved together. She said yes ,even though she can get access to it now in her computer, she doesn’t have the physical i-130 with her which she needed , it was at another office (Nebraska service center I guess), she said she will make a request and let them transfer the case to her , once she got the physical i-130 ,she will approve my case and i should be receiving my green card in the mail. I asked her how long it would normally take, she said in a few days to two weeks. Then she asked us to follow her to the copier, had my driver’s license copied and gave us a letter saying that our case is held for further review, at this point no further information is needed from us. It was an easy interview even though I am a bit sad she did not approve right on the spot. I will update when I got any notifications. So Amazon does it look common to you that my I-130 is still pending for so long..? will they really transfer my i-130 to the IO? Thanks for all your help and hopefully my experience would help !

Yes, it is common for I-130 to be pending. If you look at the GC tracker, I-130 application with PD in 2011 are still pending. If the IO requests the I-130 file, they should transfer it to them. As she said, it could take few weeks to process it, locate it, send it to her and for her to process it. She could not approve it on the spot because your I-130 is still pending. Since she interviewed both of you personally, she should be able to approve it as soon as she gets the I-130 and verifies it with answer you gave and other data they have. Congratulations on passing the I-485 interview. :)

I just got a notification saying that my alien registration has changed related to I 130 . And my I 130 has changed back to initial review. I searched online and people said it might be someone just worked on the case. Nothing new on I 485 case yet. The weird thing is I submitted a RFE for my i130 before and it was last at RFE review stage, why does it go back to initial review? Does it look like a good sign( I hope so )?

Congrats :) Your GC should be approved soon, as soon as the system syncs up with new data. If you do not hear back from them, I would recommend calling them and letting them know about this and they can create a SR to fix this.
