Yes call NVC and tell them that you filed for adjustment of status and ur 485 application is currently being processed at NBC. Give them your I485 receipt number and ask them to send your l130 to NBC wherr yout applicstion is being pricessed. BTW was ur 130 processed at VSC or NBC?

My i-130 was processed at VSC. I read different blogs and i think my case is going through a regular process. It is now being transferred to NVC which is what is the next step. Once NVC receives my application, they will send me an email where I have choice of either going through consular process or AOS. So i think it is a good thing to let NVC know that I have already applied for AOS but it is not actually required, as they will come to know about the same once NVC processes my application. SO i don't think there is anything to panic about but wait until I hear from NVC in few weeks(within a month for sure as mentioned in my I-130 approval receipt). Your case is a little different i guess since you didn't include any documents related to valid F1 status of the beneficiary while filling I-130.And i think that is the reason why they said "you are not valid for AOS" since they assumed your beneficiary to be outside US. If I were you,I would contact/email NVC once I hear from them and provide them with the missed documents incluidng a copy i-485 receipt. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3180.html#adjusting http://www.uscis.gov/USCIS/Outreach/Upcoming%20National%20Engagements/Upcoming%20National%20Engagement%20Pages/2012%20Events/February%202012/Consular_Notification.pdf http://www.path2usa.com/process-for-family-based-green-card

Thanks so much Everest, The links you have provided were so helpful:)) I now understand why the approved I-130 for everyone doing AOS in the US that I have come across was being sent to NVC. I guess it is just part of the procedure that all stand alone approved I-130 go through NVC first for processing. It was just that additional language of not being able to adjust in that US really threw me off. Also there is a line in my I-130 approval notice which states that if the beneficiary believes that they are eligible to adjust status in the US, then they should contact their local USCIS office for further information. I guess since I have already applied for AOS, when NBC will scan my pending I-130 receipt notice that I included with my application, they will see that the application has been approved and sent to NVC, hence, they will go ahead and request that it be sent to them at NBC. I feel much better now after going through the links that you sent.
