I'm filing I-765 form for EAD under F2A category as my wife is LPR. I was wondering what should I answer for ques# 15 for "Current Immigration Status". I came to US on F1 (Student) visa, completed my Master's and then worked on OPT till I could switch to H1b. I have been working on H1b since then without any gap or break in employment . As I never left US, I don't have H1b visa stamped on my passport. The original VISA for F1 stamped on my passport was valid for 2.5 yrs and I haven't left US since I entered on F1. So, I believe I have been maintaining my status but not sure what should I answer for Ques# 15 in form I-765 . What should I enter for "Current Immigration Status" ? Student (F1) or Skilled Worker (H1b) ? Thanks

I have few more questions regarding completing I-765 form and I'm trying to keep this thread specific to I-765 so that it can be used as a reference for others if they ever need it. "[b]Permission to accept employment[/b]" [h]OR[/h] [b]"Renewal of my permission to accept employment (attach previous employment authorization document)[/b] I was going to select the first one (Permission to accept employment" but now I'm thinking that I might fall under the other option (Renewal of ...) since I have already used OPT earlier and currently working on H-1B . Q2) Ques#11 is requiring to provide "[b]Which USCIS Office[/b]" if previously applied for Employment authorization from USCIS. I don't know how to answer that. Is there a way I can find that information ? My OPT was applied when I was in school in Texas long time back and from there on my employers have been filing my H-1B ? Amazon please advice. :) A2)I had my OPT card and the paper it came with. the paper had the service center and the OPT card has the dates. So I put them in. Since you are applying in a different category, it would be permission to accept. 2. You can also contact your school international office to get this information. 3. (c) (9) () The third empty bracket is for sub category, Example (c)(7)(iii).

[/quote] Technically C09 is not a valid code. Each bracket is for specific category. Some officer will ignore the zero (some may not). You are not required to fill empty spaces with zeroes (just like you will not fill empty spaces in address field with zeroes).
